Banana boat or water sled is an inflatable recreational boat invented by Gleen Matthews back in late 1980s. It has a variety of models that usually accommodate three to ten riders. They generally have the same shape, one or two banana-shaped main tube(s) in the center for the passengers and two laterally flanking tubes for footrest which stabilize the boat.

Banana boat cannot move by itself. A speed boat is needed to tow the boat. During the ride, the speed boat driver would attempt to flip the boat upside down by doing sharp turns. For security, the rider is required to wear a life vest or helmet. But don’t worry, banana boat is relatively safe, even for 4+ years old children.

List of water sport activities available in Bali is almost endless. If you want to get wet in Bali, but are not confident enough to go surfing or snorkeling, riding a banana boat can become a fun choice.
